National Update - Nats Take 2 out of 3 from Brew Crew in Milwaukee

Rendon has absolutely been on fire as of late, therefore, he probably beat this ball out for a double

The Nats took 2 out of 3 from the Brew Crew, taking the final game of the series 9-2, while the Nats won the first two games 3-0 and 4-2 in 16.

There was minimal takeaway from this series, besides that the Brewers are paper champs at this point. They've gotten lucky up to this point, and don't deserve to be in first place, the Cardinals do. Two things that this series taught me:

Gio Gonzalez is on his Way
Gio looked absolutely on fire in his Monday start. Six solid innings of baseball, controlling the tempo of the game, and leaving Milwaukee helpless against his repertoire. Gio needed a start like this after bouncing back from rehab and getting shelled in his last start. He currently has the worst ERA on the staff, but look for that to change over the course of the next month. Roark is pitching out of his mind, and Strasburg/Zimm are a commanding 1-2 punch in the rotation right now. But if Gio can work back into the Gio of old, 1-5 in the Nats rotation could be 2-3 in anyone else's rotation. Best staff in baseball bar none.

Anthony Michael Rendon
Skip Bayless had a fucking hard on over the clutch gene that Anthony Rendon is developing over the last week. He's absolutely coming through in the clutch and keeping the Nats in the games. I've said it before and i'll say it again, Rendon and Desmond are a beautiful infield building block going forward. Zimm is deteriorating, and they're both on the come up. They are the two leaders on the club in home runs and RBIs. So much promise. If Desmond gets that .230ish average up, then look out, the Nats are SERIOUS contenders.

The Nats have a 4 game stand against the Cubs in Chicago coming up. Thursday, Friday, and a doubleheader Saturday rounds up the weekend before the Nats return home for their 8-game homestand starting Monday against the Rockies.
